About the project

Priscilla was delighted to be invited to direct a rehearsed play-reading of Oscar Wilde’s classic, The Importance Of Being Earnest for Ensemble Theatre’s Boatshed Program. Inspired by the first known silent film to celebrate the homosexual relationship Anders als die Andern (Different from the Others) 1919, the vision for this production included original projections by Pete Stock. All the cast wore a green carnation, as a symbol of solidarity in honouring Oscar Wilde who was imprisoned during Earnest’s first production in 1895.
